O hai, someone who's actually been to Magfest. Is it fun for non-competitive gamers? How are their panels? Is the cosplay contest really just two hours of "makin' fun of them anime retards"?

Magfest is going to be awesome. As Larson said, I work with the guys who put it on. The company I work for is pretty much shutting down this Friday because three quarters of the employees are off for Magfest 
This year they are expecting between 1200 to 1500 people to show up. To answer Girl™'s question, competitive gaming is only a small part of what is going on. Basically anyone who wants to bring consoles or computers can bring their equipment and set it up in the main game room. You get to see and play a lot of really weird stuff that you've probably never heard of before. Its a weird mix of video games, music, anime, cosplayers, and vendors. The hotel they are having it at is really nice too.
Also, for those of you who play mario kart on the snes, I will destroy you.
So if anyone is going to be in the washington DC metro area this weekend, you should totally come to magfest. I'll be there from friday to sunday.

Hey, MAGFest 7 is coming up January 1-4, 2009. This shit has been consistently awesome every year and I think you guys would enjoy it. Video games and video game music concerts all weekend!

Yo, THE MEGAS will definitely be playing this year, I have personally arranged that. They're be in the new Thursday night concerts. Also Entertainment System will be there.
