Hey guys! Because I am a pushover, I'm going to try to organize something for the week Gordon's back from Thunder Bay. He's here from January 7th to 13th. I know that jgcrawfo and shinybaby and Gharbad are all nearby at least, and it could be good times!

Thoughts? Should we explore Space-Time Square? Catch a show at the Princess or the Starlight? Attempt to build Calvinesque snow sculptures in Waterloo Park? Or just go out for drinks at one of the many clubs around the university?

i'm up for just about anything... but i'm particularly fond of the Calvinesque snow sculptures!! my sister and i do one every year, but she's working a lot this year and may not have time to contribute. it would be ALL kinds of awesome if i could participate in one and send her pics. plus, though not a forumite, she's actually a huge xkcd fan, so she'd be thrilled!

oh yeah! i should say... i work during the day on weekdays... but i can be in the Waterloo region by about 4:30, all things being equal. and that weekend seems free so far.

Shinybaby: I spend most of my time "at home" in Toronto, so if you want to meet up at say, the Black Bull or El Macombo or something that's usually where I'm found and we can arrange something.

As for Cambridge/Waterloo area, I'd say either Dooleys for pool or some other place for drinks. I'm not even sure where my old highschool friends hang out, we used to go to BP like every day when we first turned 19, but I don't think they really hang out there any more.

Anyway, other than the 7th (the day I get in), Saturday afternoon/dinner time on the 12th and Sunday the 13th I'm pretty much wide open.

My acceptable places to drink/hang out in Waterloo:
-Jane Bond
-Huether Hotel
-Starlight
-Brick Brewery (only applicable Saturdays from noon till three)

I feel more and more like an uptown hipster snob every day, but that is where I like to go. I'm all in favour of bars with their own microbreweries (Huether et al).
AIso, if you're unfamiliar, the Brick Brewery does a tasting thing on Saturday afternoons. Five dollars for eight smaller glasses of beer makes a great deal and amusing afternoon. I'll bring fresh pizza.

Gordon: i'd love to meet up in TO first... that could be cool! it's probably not that feasible on a weekday afternoon, though, since i actually work in Burlington, so i'm kind of splitting the difference between the cities!

for a weekend meet up, though, that would be pretty perfect.

if you're out for Saturday afternoon, are we looking more at a weekday? or a Saturday night-ish thing?

The only reason Saturday was out at all is because that's when my mother wants to have our "Christmas" dinner. So basically from let's say 4-9 or 10pm on Saturday I should be at home. My mom likes to be in bed early and such.

Any other time of any other day I'm free, though, depending on what my IRL friends want to do maybe not. *shrugs*

Aaaaw, here I was getting happy that someone organized a meetup at least a little close by. Until I figured you meant Waterloo - Canada instead of Waterloo - Belgium.

I have a love hate relationship with the dresden dolls.
I love some of their music, and hate other songs. Like to the point where I listen to some tracks over and over again, but can't stand listening to other ones.

Edit: Dammit! Again, my poor planning skills come to a head, and once again I've schedualled multiple things on one evening. If you guys are meeting the saturday afternoon, I'm totally up for meeting up. But, I have larp that evening, so I can't goto the commercials.

I still have no idea what we're doing and when. Someone come up with a timeline.

Dinner somewhere, that commercial thing, then drinks? Providing everyone is off age, or we can make that last part cool kids only? By cool kids I mean those of us of age.

this sounds like a good plan... i'm not sure how long i can stay, as a friend of mine is leaving for out West and that seems to be the evening of his going-away party...

i should really put in an appearance.
