That's an interesting breakfast. :-) I wonder what time that was for you. Sometimes I get up late (say, around noon) and then I call my next meal "lunch" and it's usually lunch-"worthy" (always something hot, at least some eggs or something).

Last night I eventually had an omlette from 2 eggs with 3 veggie sausages and 1.5 baked potatoes (fried those, then added eggs). Very yummy.

For breakfast today I had some cereal and a cup of coffee. Must have coffee, it's freezing here! Well, not literally, but it was around 4 degrees C last night. Below zero in the mountains. I know it might not seem so cold for you people abroad but it's pretty extreme for Israel...

I had rabbit pie last night but my stupid brain wouldn't let me enjoy it. It was not that flavourful anyway so it wasn't worth making myself try to eat it. Stupid brain. I have, consciously, no problem with rabbit but my mom always had a thing against it and now subconsciously I can't eat it. So I just had some oven chips and veggies :)

Updated to include today's eatings.
Breakfast was muesli and a home-made fruit smoothy;
Morning snack of a banana and vanilla yoghurt;
Lunch was o so yummy, two slices of eggy bread/french toast I made too much of on Sunday morning for this very purpose with ham and cheese, warmed for meltiness. I'd call it a croque monsieur but I always feel bad calling my half-considered, usually experimental, vaguely-resembling dishes real names.
I was bad and had a little packet of mini choc chip cookies at work, and two crackers with goats cheese when I came in.
Dinner will be a weird stew consisting of things in the fridge in desperate need of eating up to which I am currently adding random things to try and make it edible. It is also half-stew half-soup without being either atm. I am still deciding whether to serve it in a bowl with bread or a plate with mash. It isn't too bad though, and has gotten curiously sweet whilst containing no food sweeter than tomato paste.

TLDR: I eat weird stuff.

Same breakfast as yesterday (see above), same weird stew for lunch with toast (I had it on it's own yesterday actually). And a salad and an apple and a yoghurt and two bon-bons. And water and tea.

Dinner will be Chinese food yum.

edited to, for no readily apparent reason, 'fess up to the four After Eights I had too.

A yoghurt and apple for breakfast, egg and cress sandwich for lunch, half a white chocolate Butler's truffle bar which sounded so much nicer in theory and dinner will be a fish pie with prawns and salmon followed by my weight in Maltesers.

Diet starts tomorrow, btw.

I've been having Chinese for four days straight... took Chinese to friends on Tuesday night. Brought leftovers home. Had some for lunch at work on Wednesday; was going to have the rest for dinner Wednesday but when I got in I couldn't resist the cheese and crackers and then didn't feel like dinner and Hubby worked late and had dinner at the office. Thursday I took half of what was left to work (don't have a go at me for eating old food. I nuke it till nothing can survive and I am still alive so the theory works so far) and Hubby had the rest for dinner... almost. Almost all of it.

My parents hate, hate, hate, hate wasting food so I have trouble doing it too, being brought up that way. They both grew up in poor families.

So the little bit of blackbean sauce and veggies (no more meat, Hubby picked it all out obviously!) and egg fried rice that was left, I had for breakfast today.

I'm kinda Chinese'd out.

My friends are coming over for dinner and I'm making my famous* lamb shanks braised in red wine with mash. And I had pub food for lunch. Hmmmm chips. I think I'm on the same diet as Cara :) mine starts Monday.

*by famous I mean the one dish I am known to follow the recipe on and not screw up and am not too worried about serving to guests.

Tonight was a Leftover Sandwich, made from the last few days. Moo, I'm totally with you on not wasting food.

Steak, mozzarella cheese, and mashed potatoes on a hero, with garlicky green beans on the side.

Earlier today I made everyone sausage and peppers for lunch. :D

This topic makes me miss food from the British Isles a lot. :(

I do eat well here though. What I had today:

Breakfast: Bran flakes.

Lunch: A cheese sandwich.

Dinner: I pretty much pigged out. and had an all-day breakfast thing :D Two scrambled eggs, a fried egg, sausage, bacon, ham, hash browns, a couple of biscuits -- in the American sense -- and a fudge brownie with ice cream. Yum...

Two pieces of toast with cottage cheese and plum jam for breakfast.
For lunch I had mashed potatoes with fried onions and garlic and some leftover blue cheese we had, as well as a veggie schnitzel.
Dinner - the world is my oyster (well, soy oyster).

Yesterday:
Breakfast: Slimfast bar. I am not "on slimfast" but these mealbars are soooooooo handy for grabbing before rushing out of the house. They are filling, a handy size and incredibly satisfying. I was late.
Lunch: Salad. A rarity for me, as I don't really like salad. But this one had ham and cheese and corn and peas and yellow peppers and was quite good.
Dinner: Was someone else's turn to bring food to Tuesday night church cell-group meeting. Pies and chips. I would never have had that myself (really must take better care of myself!) but daaaamn was it good.
Snack: Cherry tomatoes.
Illicit snack: A handful of After Eight Mints. Yummy.
Drinks: a coffee, a tea, a grape juice and a few glasses of water.

Things I forgot to do today:
  • Go to a computing class that didn't particularly matter.
  • Cash in a cheque that kind of does matter.
  • Eat, I am undecided on how much this matters. I've got some of today left though in which I could probably make up for this.

More protein shakes.

A piece of string cheese.

Going to finish off dinner with a protein shake.

Pretty much 80% of my caloric intake is Whey Protein, which provides almost everything you need. An Atkins Advantage shake and a multivitamin are pretty much all the vitamins and minerals I need, and then Ketosis to burn fat.

If I may be so bold to ask...are you a body builder or clinically obese?

I'm heavier than I'd like to be, and I wouldn't say a "body builder" as I do not want to be huge, rather I'm just leaning out my thick build with toned muscle and getting rid of my World of Warcraft gut.

I also look a lot thinner than I really am, so even though I weigh 255 I look 225, my goal is to get down to 215 and I'll look around 190. Back into high school soccer shape.

Hmm, okay, it just worries me to see someone shun a typically healthy balanced diet in favour of something as extreme as one reliant on protein shakes. I've gone to similar measures in efforts to slim down, and thus entered a spiral of starvation/binging...learning how to eat normally again is a difficult task and it's a constant struggle to maintain. I shan't get all sanctimonious, or at least no more than I already have been...but such a diet as your own cannot and should not be maintained long term, and I just hope you have the ability and the knowledge when you make the transition back to regular nutrition.

I have come off this diet for a couple weeks at a time, and the transition is great. When off the diet I just eat better and watch for important things(Glycemic impact).

I did a lot of research coming into this diet. It's not low in fat, but it's low in saturated fat and low in cholesterol. It's low in carbs, and the proteins I take in do not affect the liver as much as animal proteins. What I've accomplished from this diet is a much higher rate of metabolism(useful for when I come off the diet). A smaller stomach, and a lot less cravings for bad things.

Whey protein has pretty much all the essentials we need, and carbohydrates are not needed as some would like you to think. I'm getting back my defined muscle in my shoulder, chest, arms, and back without using carbohydrates.

I also have amazing force of will now :)

I had to rush this morning to an appointment. I was starving when I came out, so breakfast was a skinny, sugarfree hazelnut latte and a skinny blueberry muffin, from Starbucks. No I don't actually think it is *healthy* but it's healthier than having the traditional versions. And it was DELICIOUS.

Lunch is a quick egg-fried rice with onion, peas and mushrooms I knocked up. It is almost as good as breakfast. Nom nom nom. Having a cup of rooibos with it.

Dinner will be a beef curry (of as yet undecided nature) and rice, served with a sidedish of what's left of the vegetable curry I made two nights ago that didn't go down that well as a main dish.

I should probably eat some fruit some time. And a yoghurt.

Breakfast - lost croissantes. They were good, but I don't think they're that much better than really good bread.
Lunch - Some fries, salad, soup, a slice of pizza (assortment of leftovers at grandparents). For dessert - a tasty Kadaifdish called "knafe". Very very tasty.
Dinner - Who knows? No leftovers anymote so will have to cook or order.

I am being pretty good at the moment.
Breakfast yesterday: Kellogg's just right mixed with some High Fibre Bran sticks, with semi-skimmed milk
Snack: an apple and some peach yoghurt
Lunch: tuna mayo on wholeweat and a pear (and the mayo was half mayo half plain yoghurt as well!)
Snack: carrot sticks
Dinner: pork loin steak marinated in mustard and balsamic vinegar, boiled potatoes tossed in marge, salt and rosemary, parsnips.
Late snack: I got home very very late and was a little hungry, so I had a toast with honey. Cheat for the day.

I definitely don't care too much for parsnips. It is official.

It may become incredibly boring if I keep posting on here, with a probability proportional to how well my good intentions last.

Apple nutrigrain, kiwi and blueberry yoghurt for breakfast.

Ready Brek with cinammon and raisins, a pear and orange juice for lunch.

Dinner remains to be seen, but I can't imagine it will be much... traveling always makes me slightly queasy.

I'm on shift at the experiment I work at, and am not permitted to leave the control room complex when on duty. So, I've not eaten too well recently. Nevertheless:

Breakfast: Two apples and a granola bar thing, plus a large travel mug of tea.

Lunch: R to the A to the M-E-N. And some microwave popcorn. Imported Bounty bar that I found at a local supermarket - win!! Water to accompany.

Dinner: Cheese and pastrami sandwiches, made when I finally got out of the control room a short while ago. Polished off with a healthful Twix, and washed down with a Sprite Zero.

Yesterday's breakfast: toast
Lunch (I've assimilated nicely into English society :) ) was baked beans and a pork sausage.
Snacks: a pear, some yoghurt, tea and coffee, and a "healthy choice" yoghurt-coated raisin baked wafer... thingy. Nicer than it sounds.
Dinner was finger food style snacks served with candlelight so me and Hubby could spend some quality time together for a change. And a nice Cote-du-Rhone red.

'Twas nice.

Yesterday was a difficult day. I had to wake up at 2:30 (which is about 1.5 hours after I usually fall asleep). I didn't eat anything very healthy or interesting during the day - some cereal, a sandwich, a lollipop, some rice for "lunch" (which I ate about 12 hours after waking up, around 14:00...). Then I went to sleep for a few hours. In the evening, I met with some friends and I made interesting rice and helped make sambosa (sp?).

For those who don't know - sambosa are somewhat like fried dumplings with various fillings. It's Indian and we used a mix of potatoes, peas and some Indian spices. Then you deep fry it and enjoy. The rice was very good as well, recipe in the cookbook thread.

Now that I'm broke, I'm having to live off my stores in my office.

For breakfast today I had an apple-cinnamon oatmeal square.

For lunch I'm having office-made chicken and rice. Take one can of chicken and pour into bowl, liquid and all. Add two bowls of microwaveable yellow rice. Cover and microwave for three minutes. Stir. Add one to three packets of soy sauce (optional).

Total cost: $2.

What I ate yesterday was some awesome, delicious, local, free range, well matured, perfectly cooked fillet steak YUUUUUUUUUUUUUM. And parsnip-potato-hashbrowns which were also pretty yummy and some glazed carrots.

Re: What did you eat today?

Postby Zohar » Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:00 pm UTC

Yesterday I had:
Breakfast: Two rice thingies (the ones you eat instead of bread) with some white cheese and sherry tomatoes.
Lunch: BIG slice of spinach pie and a veggie schnitzel.
Dinner: Nothing much. At the movies I had some nachos with salsa sauce (took a large portion but split it with a friend).
I also did 35 minute walk. It's a start. Overall a good day.

Today I had:
Same breakfast as yesterday.
Lunch: Veggie schnitzel, some couscous (about 0.5 cup, maybe?) and vegetable sauce, salad (with some tehini) and a bowl of minstrone (sp?) soup. Oh, and two salty cookies.
Dinner: We'll see. I'll probably have something small for the afternoon (maybe a couple of carrots) and I need to make something semi-healthy supper, probably eggs of some sort, accompanied by a dairy product and veggies. Hopefully I'll stick to that.

I just ate a sundried tomato and goat's cheese salad with balsamic vinnaigrette and it was so delicious I had to share.

I would think that if it were really delicious you wouldn't want to share at all!

Goat's cheese is great. Were the tomatoes dry? Sometimes they put then in olive oil and then they're not too dry. Think you could recreate the recipe?

Oh yes, tomatos in oil. Recreate recipe? You overestimate the amount of trouble I went to this morning!

1. Take salad leaves from bag, put in suitable serving dish;
2. Cut up some sundried tomatoes in oil, add to leaves;
3. Crumble some creamy goat's cheese over leaves and tomatoes;
4. Mix 1:1 the oil the sundried tomatoes are in and balsamic vinager, pour over salad;
5. ???
6. Yum!

Had manicotti last night. Haven't eaten anything yet, although I may go make some manicotti for late breakfast.

3 eggs, whey protein shake. Going to finish today off with a couple pepperjack cheese sticks and some Atkins Advantage shakes.

Total calories will be around 900.

Yesterday for dinner I had some tortillas. I bought them, I don't have a good recipe. For fillings we made some avocado salad (just avocado, lemon juice, chopped onion and salt), some canned corn and a 5-minute chilli recipe (fried onion, garlic, one chili pepper, added two tomatoes and two cans of beans in tomato sauce, some salt and a tiny bit of sugar).

Tortillas are so much fun. And fast, too.
