Well, no.. because some Americans will willingly drink Miller Lite.

Some Americans will willingly drink Budweiser. Or Pabst Blue Ribbon. It's a tragedy.

You know, after reading that over, I have to disagree. If there's a person who's going to drink Pabst solely because it's fashionable, they're being punished already. Because they're drinking Pabst. I mean.. .. well, okay, that's my point in it's entirety.

True.
People do willingly drink Miller Lite.
I don't understand it.
It glows under UV light.
I mean really. Do you want to drink something that glows?

I've given up trying to understand what would possess someone else to drink something I find disgusting. Just keep this horrifying thought in mind.

The Miller Brewing company is large. Large enough to have an extensive marketing team, and large enough to do various blind taste tests. After coming up with various formulas and testing them out on small population samples, that is what was determined to be acceptable.

Think of what they rejected, and shudder in horror as you realize, somewhere, some brewer whipped it up, took a sample to try out and said "That'll do."

In short, yes. Yes I do. Things that glow are awesome.

However, I would also like it to taste good. And Miller Lite tastes goddamn awful

I agree. The fact that it glows doesn't turn me off at all. It's not good, but it's cheap, and I've spent many a night drinking Miller because it's what we could afford.

That being said, I do enjoy good beer. I just sometimes like to slum.

But if you're going to drink cheap beer, why not go for something like Southpaw?
At Uni it was like $5 for a 6 pack.

Miller's about that. And if you have to drink a Miller product why not go for the one that tastes better?
Plus Southpaw has a higher alcohol content and Kangaroos on the bottle.

Protip: the quinine present in a gin & tonic makes it glow under UV light.

Hmm, I'm thinking some kind of lab glassware, a few pellets of dry ice and a quantity of gin and tonic could make a rather awesome drinking apparatus.

I'm sorry. I can't drink gin.
Bad reaction due to an ex-coworker of mine when I used to wait tables back in school.
She'd show up wearing the same thing from last night, reeking of gin and stale cigarettes. Her nick name was Bootsy.
Just thought I'd share.

Gin is terrible. Every time I've ever had gin, I've thrown it up. I think it might be because the first time I had it, I had a gin and tonic and my brother-in-law made me drink all of it even though it was TERRIBLE.

Moral of the story: Do not drink gin. It's TERRIBLE.

Not impressed with all the gin hate guys :(
aetherson wrote:(is the quanine why they used to drink gin in Africa and India? what with the malaria and all...)

The quinine's in the tonic water actually - it did used to be used by the British in India to help protect against malaria, and the gin just entered the equation when they had the bright idea of throwing in a bit of booze while they were at it.

100% of the bad Gin & Tonics that I have had have been caused by cheap gin. Quality is always a factor with liquor, but I think it is even more pronounced with gin.

I usually dislike any alcoholic beverage I try (I don't try a lot). I like tonic water, though. What do you think are the odds I'd like gin & tonic? I should try that next time I'm at a pub.

i have to admit, i'm a scotch girl myself.

i worked in a rum QC lab for about 5 years, including being trained to the taste test panel, and i *still* never really developed a taste for the stuff, though. i just can't wrap my head around it. beer (love the Mill St. Coffee Porter, love it... oh and Creemore Springs, especially the Urbock) wine, and scotch are my preferences.

on topic, a pic of me and a friend i've been known to share a pint with...

When it comes to rum, "good" is a subset of "dark".

As for gin, it tastes and smells like something intended only for cleaning wounds. Tonic isn't exactly tasty either.

And I really want to know if there are any good beers that glow under ultraviolet light.

It really is. There is about three years between pictures, but as for losing weight - I think I have actually put on weight between the pictures. The contact lenses do make a huge, huge difference though.
