#xkcd irc channel

Postby xkcd » Wed Aug 30, 2006 11:09 pm UTC

People have been following the "about" page into the social IRC channel I hang out on. This is generally good, but rather than continue to hassle that group of very nice real-life friends, I'm creating a separate channel for readers of xkcd:

irc.foonetic.net
#xkcd

The idea is that this logic-puzzle-doing math-geek-y sappy-romantic crowd can continue to hang out. I'm putting it on the main site shortly; hopefully we can seed the channel with any of you forum types who are IRCers. See you there!

I've always prefered IceChat myself, but only if you KNOW the basics of IRC/mIRC.

No. Not IRC, mIRC. IRC is the protocol. mIRC is the client.

My guess is you should type /connect irc.foonetic.net 6667 or /server irc.foonetic.net 6667
I don't know if it need the 6667, it's just the port.

/server irc.whatever.org

The port number is unnecesary. Once you have connected type /join #xkcd

Edit: This page might be worth a look
I'm not lazy, I'm just getting in early for Christmas is all...
