I can't bring myself to touch the macs that we have at my uni... I prefer using the linux machines, but unfortunately they only exist in the IT building.

The "normal" machine was one that I built with OS X in mind. So I made sure that every part I chose was "compatible".

to be honest i don't very much like vista, but i am running it on one machine as the dual-booting alternative to ubuntu.

mac os just:
1. doesn't even look that nice.
2. is retardedly difficult to use for an os. None of the features I seem to want to use are available without some silly combination of 15 keyboard commands.

I've heard this alot, but really, it's not as bad some of the stories seem to make it out to be. The problem is that people don't know what they are doing, and buy Vista to run on their pentium3 with 512Mb of ram, because it's 'newer and better' and therefore they should. -If- your computer handles it alright, the OS itself isn't actually bad to use, it just hogs your resources. alot.

The new seurity features aren't bad, and aren't as intrusive as macm fanboys would like us to think. If they didn't make vista so bulky and hog 20+% of my ram, I would think it was alot better.

Given a modern computer, I'd take Vista over XP in almost any case...

This is coming from someone who's used Vista since July and used XP for four years. Since NVidia got their drivers finally sorted out, I've had almost zero problems. And thanks to Vista's much improved error handling, even NVidia's driver frequently dying only meant that the screen went black for a few seconds.

Vista certainly has its problems, but it's not a shit OS, and I have seen not one thing that would make me want to switch back to XP.

You spend a fair bit of time in the computer forums... I've said a number of times I think Vista is underrated, and I'm not the only one.

What browser do you use? They don't for me... (Firefox, either 2 or 3, and under either Windows or Linux (3 under Linux untested, but the other three combinations work))
