Will Questionable Content be changed back to Questionable C?

Postby zenten » Wed Apr 02, 2008 4:42 am UTC

If so, will any intended reference to Questionable Content instead of Questionable Content be changed to Questionable Content, or will it stay Questionable Content like it should?

If not, won't the Questionable Content forums get rather confusing, especially with the Site/Forum issues, from all the people writing Questionable Content but displaying Questionable Content instead?

That is, perhaps, the most confusing post I have ever read.

AFAIK the posts are stored correctly with x.kcd, and when the filter is removed, the server will stop replacing it with Questionable Content when procesing requests. So, everything will go back to normal with no lasting effects.
My question is, why does disabling the "word censoring" option not actually do anything (ie. remove the filters on xkcd and Bruce Schneier)?

Because they are admin-imposed filters, I believe. In any case, they aren't really harming anything and are good for a chuckle.

My guess is, the word-censoring option is for people that would not like to see swear and / or graphic words and if the admin had a list set up for that.

But in all honestly, I have no fucking clue. :)

The "Questionable Content" filter is currently causing all internal links to fail.
This is a placeholder until I think of something more creative to put here.

So apparently even the mods are unable to go over on title length without a filter.

Or not, as the case tends to be more often.

Let me help explain: xkcd

And I didn't edit my initial post, but someone else did.

Word filter. Not Mods. Or, alternately, Modifications to the forum. Given that mods is a shorthand for moderators, not modifications on this here fora, that would be the point of confusion.

Assuming I'm understanding you correctly, which I may not be as that still makes no sense to me.

"So apparently even the word filters are unable to go over on title length without a filter."

I think.

Actually, strike all that. I have no idea what you're saying, Zenten.

I'm saying moderator.

Because my initial post is not under a word filter any more, some moderator changed what I wrote. And it no longer fits under the title, but it did when xkcd was changed through the filter, instead of a simple find/replace.

Hard limits on the title length are there for technical reasons. Why would a moderator be exempt from it?

I assume that means that since Belial is red, he can fly?

I'm so confused. Zenten, does what you are saying even matter as a forum issue? That is to say, is there something that is of concern to you that you would like rectified, or are you just making a very confusingly worded observation?

From what I understand, he was merely commenting on the fact that someone changed the original title, because now that the word filter is gone, the original post still has the confusing (and funny) wording it did when the filter was in place.

That's it.

No forum issue to be dealt with, just like most of this thread isn't. It was, after all, originally about an April Fool's joke...

Agreed and lock'd. -L
