In my experience, merchants have never brought sand or glass. This can make it a bit frustrating, since sand is so useful if you have magma, yet getting both of them on the same map is tricky.
Personally, my favoured trade goods are embroidered, dyed cloth robes. Especially since with a high-skill Weaver, Dyer and Clothesmaker you can get pig-tail robes (or socks!) worth several hundred cash. I know stone crafts (and totems, since I'm farming meat) are essentially free, but I get sick of them cluttering up stockpiles. Plus, it's much more convenient to sell a single robe for a huge pile of meat than waste time selecting a dozen rings or whatever.
Oh, that reminds me. I've never seen merchants bring me bone, fat, shells or skulls. Or tallow, come to think of it. Except indirectly, of course. Mmm... I once bought a dead caged tiger from the elves.
