If your goal was to remind us how lucky we are to have xkcd by showing us the print alternative, you've succeeded. Now write the ESR in Cirque du Soleil strip.

I believe I've been referred to as an ass, but too wussy to be worth called one, I think.
Anyhow.
Wow. I'm a fool, I hope, for being fooled that randy might be the only one to fool you with a sad "nope it's not a fool's joke" on April 1st just because people would think (and I did at first- before this idea struck) that "Haha it's April 1st...It must be a joke".
The whole list totally passed off as a potential interpretation of their list, if they were to have one.

I thought the red text was a filter at first, but now I get the feeling the Great One walks amongst us. And he's carrying a red pen...

I stopped reading in the middle of the comic to go post about this reference. What time was this strip posted, by the way? I went to bed at 3 AM and nothing then - but then again, it's not a monday/wednesday/friday strip either so what's a little bit of time lag :\
And yeah, this really is a shame. xkcd was my favorite webcomic! Now all I have left is Dinosaur Comics...
EDIT: Also, since it's not a joke, there must be a good reason for the fact that
http://xkcd.com/c243.html doesn't exist. Is it because it's more of an announcement than an actual strip?

Yay for syndication which is unfortunately not an April Fools, for it brought us an extra comic!
We'll be better off without the mention of Belgium anyway.

It's not lopsided, it's just that your monitor is shifted by 3/4 Pi. And you think the glyphs represent frowns oriented vertically in a certain manner. Shame on you for such unfounded assumptions.

I think that's because it's the last strip so
http://xkcd.com/ is a permanent address to it.

So, if you leave those things out. Essentially you'll be publishing an unrelated strip with the name XKCD, right? What do you plan on changing this strips name to?
I see what you did there >.> I wish it was a joke =(.

No. xkcd.com always displays the latest comic, but there's also always a "c###.html" link as well. There is none for this.
EDIT: Also, it doesn't show in the archive.

At least they aren't taking away the raptor avoidance tips. Without them more people might suffer the fate of Dresden Codak in the future.

If Randy was going to pull an April Fools joke don't you think he would have done something along the lines of making a fake obituary saying how he died from a vicious raptor attack?

Teledildonics!
Damn you! I saw that years ago as a joke, and I've been working so hard to get it out of my head. Now there it is again, to crop up and mess with my head over and over again for months.
Honestly, xkcd is the best. Profound and funny unlike any other. Thank you.

You had me through most the second paragraph. Right until the DRM part.

April first is a silly day. I enjoyed the extra comic, though. The DRM part cast doubt onto the legitimacy of this announcement, then the ridiculous list of things that would be prohibited (especially sword fights between white people...I don't really see ethnicity/race being expressed in a stick figure comic) and the claim that newspapers are the future ended any doubt for me. It would be kinda funny (mean to the people who believe this or are unsure, though) to have a late monday update or even no monday update...there would be much panicking. Which would, of course, be expected, as the syndication is real.

I personally work for UFS, so let me reassure everyone that this is a joke. We would have no problem with one of our artists making Star Trek jokes. We are not fascists.
Also, we would not let one of our artists make a public statement on his website about our contract, especially with a misspelled word.
Additionally, it has come to our attention that some of Randall's more colorful... associates, shall we say, are being investigated secretly under the provisions of the Patriot Act. I have it on good authority that they will soon be receiving a visit from our friends in Homeland Security. Of course, I am not really at liberty to say more.
Rest assured, friends, this post about me being from the UFC is all just a hoax.
The drinking will continue until morale improves.
