I would certainly say it's not too processor intensive, I'd go with the whole "This game needs to be more realistic" crowd, you know, the same group of people complaining about games not being fun, complaining that they're only focusing on graphics, and that complain when a game has bad graphics. Basically, the excessively vocal crowd that game developers need to stop listening to.

I'm sure Blizzard must gets tons and tons of data about their clients' computers from World of Warcraft. They'll use that data to ensure that a good percentage of people buying the game will be able to play it.

well apparently 39000 people have somehow got their hands on Diablo 3... (before someone calls me on it - yes I do realize they're referring to the video)What we got in DIII:

Also, I realize that I've never actually seen any truly gargantuan creatures (like the Siegebreaker) in any 3-D computer games, ever. Is there some good reason for that that people can think of? Is it too processor intensive, and if so, why?

How about destroying an entire plane of existance with a cheese grater?

Maybe I'm just forgetting something, since it's been a couple years since I last played D2, but I don't recall seeing any torches drop, and I just finished D1, and found no torches at all. The most I got were items that were imbued with an increased light radius in addition to other attributes. I liked the light radius (at least in dungeons, or when it takes place at night), because it give the feeling of, well, been in a dungeon. I don't want the environment to glow in a way that should cause my character to die from radiation poisoning, if I'm crawling through catacombs, the only light I want to see is in the area immediately around me, and from the few torches on the wall.
