Sig Image Proportions

Postby Owijad » Thu Apr 05, 2007 7:24 pm UTC

Could someone identify how large a sig image can be without breaking page resolution? And then maybe write it down somewhere so no one forgets.
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold,
But if you lose, the devil gets your sould!

I think it's partially dependant on what most people are using. I only know like... 2 people in existance who use an 800x600 resolution outside of school (where most people are too stupid to change it on thier own)...

I think if that's the case, though (800x600)... icons can't be mroe than 128... 800 minus 128 (assuming a maximized window) ...

600 would be a good widest. Nice even number...

*wonders at her own sig* now how big is THIS one?

*These are not steadfast rules, just guidelines*

Just use common sense, really. I highly doubt anyone is using these fora at less than 1024*768. Do your best not to go over ~500 or so wide. For height, ~100 seems like an appropriate max to me. We don't need the full pages to be so long that it takes 2.71 minutes to scroll down just because of sig images.

as a rule of thumb, I never have a sig taller than the largest dimension of my avatar.

This is an excellent rule of thumb!

I know this isn't the place for it but, did you change your name or something?
