If it makes people converse, then its a plus. I don't see what the problem is.

Yes, it could be a double-bluff, but unless the raptor is very careful, the bluff could blow up in their face. It also provides fuel for later, if necessary.

So, as I understand it our plan for now is to have everyone saying things like:

"So, the Tribe is like the Masons from round 4. Gee, I sure hope they don't get repeatedly killed like they did in round 4, they ended up being useless.

The hatmaker is going to need to be really good at trolling through someone's posts and rousing suspicion against that person for when he finally locates a raptor. Otherwise, without roleclaiming, he is going to be next to useless.

Now there seems to have been someone confusoion about the witch doctor, which is a role I have read about. From what I understand, he picks two people at night, A and B. Any actions that target A instead target B, and any actions that target B instead Target A. Now, that can have all sorts of interesting effects, especially depending on whether or not the mods tell someone like the hatmaker that their investigation was redirected.

Of course this witchdoctor has the option to simply role-block, an ability that we are familiar with.

So, we have a bunch of ragged crash survivors, a bunch of people wearing loincloths and leaves, and a bunch of pre-historic predators that know not fear and can kill you with their brains. We are all wearing hats though, thus making us anonymous. Very tricky situation."

Is that about the gist of it?

Funny thing is that in the last several rounds that I've played, I've been the first one to pipe up with "Hey, here's what I think of the roles, how about everyone chimes in with their ideas!"

Got beat to the punch this time :-(

From the first post:
Witch Doctor (with thanks to nsmjohn, its a shame he isn't playing.):
During night can "redirect" one player. Witch Doctor selects two players, the targeter and the targetee, if the targeter used a night role, the action is redirected to the targetee. Witch Doctor can just choose to roleblock the targeter instead.

The Witchdoctor has to target someone with a night action, and someone else. I'm assuming the Witchdoctor would have to identify which player he believed would use a night action, and which player he wanted that night action redirected to. It makes the Witchdoctor potentially devastating, but only if he can get the raptors to kill one another, I guess. Hence why it's probably more useful to simply roleblock.

It would require the witchdoctor to guess right twice. Well, the targetee might be easier, because he/she would know who isn't part of the tribe. Still, it's pretty risky. It might be more useful late game, but it seems to me that the witchdoctor would need to know exactly who are the raptors to make that ability useful, or at least know who is the doctor or cop to redirect people from them.

I approve of this idea.

It isn't right, based on what the mods have said, but I like the idea of this role.

I suppose the bigger the tribe gets, the better the witchdoctor gets.
If the game gets to a point where the tribe and the raptors are of equal number and there are very few survivors left it'd be a pivotal role.

From past experience, the Masons rarely become too large.

So, either we wait for a day, wondering if we get a replacement, or we pick a different person to lynch.

Hm... can the witch doctor force someone to target themselves? I would assume the answer is no, but it would be interesting.. It would make the witch doctor much more powerful, it would mean that if the target did an investigation, it would be wasted, but we could eliminate a raptor that was assigned to kill without risking the targetee being pro-town.

Sorry about lack of posting for a while, been busy. At least discussion has started, but I'm not sure whether we should lynch will or not. Hils lack of contribgution means we have nothing to go on. He may be hurting the game but lynching him wont help it all that much.
Wills has a 2/3 chance of being pro-town (or there abouts I think). By lynching him, we gain no information, as if we had voted no lynch. But we have killed someone who is likely town-alligned. That doesn't seem like a good strategy. I'll keep my vote for now but I may use it elsewhere soon. Probably not on wills though.

What do you mean 'too large' - why would it be bad for the town to have a large tribe?

Also, the thought occurs that the recruiter is sort of a cop, except he dies when he gets a guilty result (this is probably stating the obvious, but he should advise the tribe of his target prior to the recruitment).

Likewise, anyone who seems to want to be recruited is quite probably a raptor - because it's a hugely advantageous strategy to the raptors to try and get the recruiter to recruit them. They not only kill a townie, but also stop the tribe growing bigger.

It's worth noting that once the size of the tribe surpasses 50% of the population, the town has basically won (there are a few situations where this isn't the case, but it requires great luck and guesswork on the part of the raptors)

It's another way of saying 'very large'. I don't mean like 'too large for its own good' or something.

Because oneofthedragon did not bold his question:
Hm... can the witch doctor force someone to target themselves?

Nebuduck, you're cool. Got any suggestions?

No, he hasn't read it yet. I'm going to give him another day (as in 24 hours from now, not the actual progression of the game) and then I'll begin searching out a replacement.
