And so, we were sent to a backup and lost the part where I was surprised at ginnybee having been in the very same room as me (said business of games lecture). I really need to learn to recognise you people. :) Plus that definitely was the order I did.

I also inquired as to what the raid on saturday thing is.

Damnit, backups fail! I want to come to another lecture but it sounds like Christian's kind of intense.
And yes, the raid on saturday will be preceded by an attempt at the largest time warp singalonghttp://www.showbiz.com.au/rockyhorrorshow/rocky_gwr.html
and then is to proceed to exciting protestation and then the pub. PM me if you want to come along -- it's going to be epic.

I'd love to meet up since my week-long holiday starts this weekend.
Who else would like to come?

I won't be making any meetups this weekend; Manifest is on (Friday to Sunday).

Out of interest, anyone here planning to attend?

A couple of my friends from uni are on the manifest organising commitee I think, but I wasn't planning on going. Mainly due to not actually watching anime much. Also I'm going to go to the magic the gathering prerelease.

Haha, yeah, is looking like meetup fail. I have a few friends at Manifest but I'm a non-mangaperson myself. Maybe next week? I tend to be free on saturdays.

And I double post to ask y'all if anyone wants to meetup on Saturday in the CBD? A couple of people on IRC have said they're interested, it'd be awesome to catch some more for a casual gathering type thing.

This Saturday isn't great for me, I have a biology lecture in preparation for my exams.

Actually I'm unlikely to be available until exams are finished. Stupid year 12 :(

Flinders Street steps are always easy enough. Public transport a-plenty, easy for those unfamiliar with melbourne, and places to sit/clocks to tell time. How about there at 12:00 noon?

Still a little concerned that there might have been others turning up who didn't merge with our little group. If I attend one of these again, I will attempt to bring some kind of signage!

I don't think there was a hat this time. A waistcoat, and a pocket watch, but not a hat.

Haha! If nice shirt, waistcoat, and pocket watch is an absence of style; I wish to see 'dressing elegantly' now. Though I doubt there will be opportunity for that as the weather warms up, as I expect it would involve more layers of clothing.

Someone (A friend of ginnybees iirc, Yuri) posted this on another forum I frequent (spoilered for really goddamn big)

A google search turns up THIS which has the odd combination of "Date: Fri 8:00AM, 17 Oct 2008" and "...a night of chip tunes and video game inspired beats...". I'm pretty sure it's actually 8 pm.

People! I've been thinking that, once my exams are over, I would very much like to have a meetup and once again see all your lovely faces. It's been far too long. I was thinking any of the last 3 weekends in November (15th-16th, 22nd-23rd, 29th-30th), whichever of those suits the most people. I know it's a bit far from now, but these things tend to have more participants when there's more notice, so I figured what the heck I'll suggest it now.

We also have an #xkcdian visiting Melbourne, who would like to catch the meetup. He'll be here until the 3rd of December and would like some advice on interesting places to visit in Melbourne. I live all the way out in Frankston, so I'm somewhat lacking in city smarts, but hopefully with the group of us we can think of some hip and happenin' places to send this cool cat. or something.

Anyway, how does that sound to everyone?

Firstly, sounds good, but I prefer not the 29th/30th as I'm going to a lan that weekend. Morning or afternoon on the 29th would work I suppose. Earlier I'll still be in the exam period but thats not a huge deal.

As for where to visit in melbourne, I direct you to this extremely appropriate thread: Things to do - Melbourne

I'd come. I was planning to come to one after my exams anyway. I can only make it on the 29th/30th as the other two weekends are already reserved for things that take higher priority.
