im free not this weekend, but the next one(1st 2nd 3rd). i reckon a LAN would be the way to go, get a few mates along and whatnot, i havent played any multiplayer AOE in years.

If you're gonna have a LAN make sure you play some decent lan games, such as Quake 3 Team Arena, not AOE!

Anyway, Tahii here from Invercargill. Got the best of both worlds down here - we have Laser Strike (renamed as Lazerland down here, and its better than all the others because I helped build the place), and they also have indoor and outdoor paintball fields nextdoor...

Also, we have a large rather avid LAN gaming group, most of whom are XKCD readers.

So I vote for a meetup down here

could be done with a bit of planning, ill need to get my old falcon back on the road if im going to invers though :p

i really dont know what everyone dislikes about AOE2; apart from rise of nations which(among most of my mates anyway) requires a significantly more powerful computer its still one of the best RTS out there. also, seeing as my gaming rig died about 6 months back and im still a month off getting a new one my skill in FPS would most likely be laughable by now.

north island eh? could be done. im waiting on a few repairs to my car, but early december i'm due for a 4 day weekend, will get back to you on the date. where in the north are we planning it?

EDIT: if we take a car across on the ferry we only have to pay for a car i think, not individual seats.

No, if you take the ferry you have to pay an exorbitant amount for the car, plus individual seats. And it will be hell of expensive in December.

ack, just looked it up, about $350 each way for 4 of us. what a ripoff, the PEI ferry is $45 each way for a car, as many people as you can fit in it.

Soooo I guess we rent some kayaks. It's not that far is it? Besides, the worst that can happen is we get swept out into the ocean and carried to Antarctica on the currents, where we freeze and/or starve to death.

a bridge wouldnt work, last i checked cook strait was home to about three tectonic plates, so any movement would destroy it. as for the poll, ill count myself as christchurch, its close enough.

I am definitely going to BDO. I will also be spending a bit of time in the North Island in January. I'll get the first 2 months of 2009 off work, and fuck around the country, so if you want to see me and my car (and my ounces and my tabs and my grams and my alcohol), just say so.
