Jabber notifications

Postby phlip » Wed Oct 01, 2008 2:55 pm UTC

Is anyone else having troubles with the Jabber notifications?

I've had the forum giving me notifications in Jabber for ages, and it's been great... but recently (about a week ago), they stopped showing up...

I went through the instructions in this thread, just to check everything was still set up right, but it seems to be fine. I tried sending an IM to forums@xkcd.com, as suggested in that post, but all I get is an uninformative error message from Pidgin saying merely "Code 500".

I know my Jabber connection is still working... I tried that today, a friend with a GTalk account sent me some messages, and it worked. I don't think anything at my end has changed at all since it last worked...

I'll switch back to email for now, but I hope I can get the Jabber dealie working again, because that really was a lot better.

Yeah, it's stopped sending me messages as well, which has forced me to actually refresh my e-mail inbox regularly.

Mine has also stopped. Anyone know if davean's read this thread?

If it helps narrow it down, according to my logs, the last notification I got via Jabber was on 25 Sep 2008, at 9:25 PM (UTC).

I recently got pidgin and gmail working together again and have noticed that I am not receiving any Jabber notifications lately. Does no response in this thread in the last month indicate other people are still having problems?

Woah, I come home today to find a Jabber window open with a whole pile of forum notifications in it.

Seems this is working again! Yay!
