the mr*bdex story cONGtinues.

Code: Select all

observation $ENHANCE$d their spirits considerably. Such was their enthusiasm by the time they began to draft the hotdog's core architecture and screen layout, that they worked all nip, all dip, and through a second nip and dip before taking a break for dinner, i.e. to recharge. And as the batteries were passed about, so sure were they of their success, that they winked and smirked -- but only when the servants were not looking, for they suspected them (and rightly so) of being spies for the King. So the bOTTifactors said nothing of their work, but praised the quality of their <*:Lightning in a Bottle:>, a microprocessor-brewed mulled electrolyte which they had been served in monocrystal sapphire beakers. Only after having their fill, when they had strolled out on the veranda overlooking one village with its white spires and domes catching the last lime-green rays of the setting sun, only then did Mrorl turn to Balthacarius and say:
"We haven't outrun the rising Sea yet, you know."
"How do you mean?" asked Balthacarius in a cautious whisper.
"There's one difficulty. You see, if the King defeats our hotdog, he'll undoubtedly have us melted in that furnace, for we won't have done his bidding. If, on the other hand, the hotdog... You see what I mean?"
  "If the hotdog remains undefeated?"
"No, if the hotdog defeats *him*, dear colleague. If that happens, the King's successor may not let us go so easily."
"Death by hotdog -- that *is* pretty e****ish. But you don't think we'd have to answer for that, do you? As a rule, heirs to the throne are only too happy to see it vacated."

Computery stuff... Hmm... It's not such a great computery stuff day for me. My extremely part time connection to my computery stuff tLWFFS has gotten much much more tenuous over the last coupla dips. I really love that tLWFFS. I'll be very sad if I'm coming to the end of that road. The molpies I molpied around with there are awesomeful.

Hello everymolpy! I've been stuck in the basement for the longest Time now, and I'm going to stay there for over a mip, but I thought I'd pop in and say hi. I've mostly stayed keught up with the OTT itself, though I tend to accumulate a few dips of lag before reketchupping during the wipend.

Anyway, though I've been basemented, minor AUTOMOME changes have continued to accumulate, so I think it's Time for another release! Without further ado:

AUTOMOME 4.1 RELEASED

This release contains crawlpyfixen, new memes, and new vocabulary -- i.e. pretty much what you'd expect from a new release. Most prominently, there's a category for foreign-language memes .

I guess that the precise wording isn't that important and that it's more important to express that we're feeling with xeir.

I don't think there are any right words. Especially not in written form. Hugs and ice cream are pretty much the only forms of communication that are remotely appropriate for that.

t1i – A Drawing OF The Cave

Postby SilentTimer » Mon Jun 29, 2015 9:00 am UTC

One year ago, SilentTimer wrote:

*** STARTING THOUGHT TRANSMISSION FROM THE PAST ***

June 2014. April 13291.

BraveBean draws the bluecave.

He's good at drawing.
His drawing style is similar, but not identical to that of Ms. Frizzle.

How does a broken illegal nuclear waste depository look like after 10000 years?

He knows that he doesn't have much time.
How is he thinking and acting inside the cave?
What does he draw?
Spoiler:
He's standing on a small ledge, together with his colleague.
There's no point in saying goodbye to her again.
Everything has been said.

They know what will happen next.
It was his decision to do it this way.

He's dying.
He feels it.
He's dying because he was inside this cave.
That's all they know.
They want to know more.
That's why he's going into the cave again.

She's staying outside, waiting for his return,
to take his notes, and to give him some last relief.

He wants to stay inside the cave for as long as possible,
to take notes, and to draw some pictures.

He reaches the point where he and his friend decided to turn back.
Again he's feeling the sickness.
This time he's ignoring it.
It doesn't matter any more.
He must save just enough strength to get out again.
After that he'll die anyway.

Before he goes deeper inside he completes the drawing of what they saw from this point.
This place is man-made. The roof is perfectly smooth, except where it's broken.

Stalactites are dangling from it, giving this place a surreal beauty.

Image

Deeper in the cave, there's a pile of something which looks like barrels.

Image

Considering the length of the stalactites, this structure must be an oevre by The Old Ones.
Whatever they intended to build, now it is a murdering machine.
He's here to find out as much as possible about it.
He descends towards the barrels.

He feels increasing sickness, but he can bear it.
This gives him time to draw what he sees.

There are barrels, some debris, some rusty struts.
This might be the remains of a roof truss.

The bottom of the cave is flooded with water.
This explains why the plants at the shore of that lake display the same deformations as those in front of this cave.
And there's one big thing sticking out of the water.

Image

Although the barrels are probably more important, that big, rusty thing fascinates him.
One of its parts looks like a giant hand which can easily carry around a couple of those barrels.

Image

For a brief moment, the sickness takes over.
Blood is mingling with his vomit.
Time to get out again.
Time is running out for him.

The barrels.
Some of them carry markings.
They might be important.

Image

He sits down and tries to copy those markings as accurately as possible.
They look like writing, but it's very different from anything he's familar with.
Hopefully some historian can identify or even read them.

Image

While he finishes his drawing he's feeling more and more lightheaded.
He must go back and hand over his notes, or everything was in vain.

He gets up – and falls down again.
Dizzyness hits him like a blow.
He must bring back his notes.

The pain increases. He bucks up.
It's difficult to focus his eyes.
And where does this sour flavour come from?
He climbs.

It's just a few steps, but each step is more difficult than the previous one.
He hears someone calling.
He tries to shout that he's on the way back,
but his mouth fills with blood.

He can see the light of the entrance.
He knows who's standing there but he cannot focus his eyes.
His steps are becoming more and more clumsy.
Through the pain, he walks up, mechanically.

His guts have turned into a mud of pain.
It doesn't matter.
He must get out, so they can take his notes.
That's the only thing which matters.

There's the light.
Almost there.

Crawling on all fours he does everything to reach the exit.
He cannot see the way anymore.
Someone's shouting.
She can see him.

She's telling him where to go.
Now he's sure he'll reach her.
The pain doesn't matter any more.
Nothing does, except that he must reach her.

Almost there.

There's the light.

Do we have a word for powerful, but endish? I mean wow, SilentTimer, but I think I want to not think about that too much.

ggh,
"Have you seen this dog?"
This post made me gghappy.

And now:

BFTFles on the moon.
Some said the 'B' in BFTF stands for "bicycles".
It does not.

So what does bftf stand for?
If you ask me,
I'll answer with a question.
"what does xkcd stand for?"

I even wanted to make an ottification of xkcd 207 about this.
But I didn't have a good idea for it.

But does it mean that bftf does not stand for anything?
No, it does mean something.
But it was not found yet.

I think I used it in one post not so long ago.

But back to bicycles.

In this frame you can see him replacing the wheel:
Image
Does it mean the wheel is broken?
No.
Wheels with air are not a good idea on the Moon.
On Earth they are.
If you go from one place to another you may want to change your wheels.

In bftf you could see 4 different bicycles:

Ah, right. Balthasar Follows Time with Friends. I like this title. :)
Hmm, I thought that one of those f's was for friends, but I was guessing it was the first one. And now, searching through my posts, it looks like I never actually said it. Damn.
I was also a really big fan of Back From The Future. I can't remember who said that.
