I'll be anxious about it until a mod shows up (I hope it's before I go to bed).

Scum chat will be published - just pruning out some non-game content first.

Corrected my mistake in not including Maven in the game-end post.

Good game, scum!

I think I was a little too focused on the the Sabrar-wam link, as in scum!Sabrar trying to get scum!wam in the final two, that I didn't consider wam may be scum with others.

This whole time I thought Sabrar was scum with Wam and Bessie. Sabrar, you need to listen more dude and not shoot so fast, basically being me. Fun games though, my hand hurts alot so I can't say much. Please give shout outs guys, I will give some when I am better. Note that Zen and I were not scum together. It would be more helpful to work together, and then in later days, if things seem odd, then maybe consider scumreading. I generally let Zen do his thing Day 1, as it is always beneficial.

Role PMs:

Commonwealth of Man Special Operations Agent

Spoiler:
Welcome, bessie.

You are an elite agent of the Commonwealth of Man Special Forces Command.
You have come aboard as the Intelligence Officer of the UNS Ajax.
Along with your comrades freezeblade and wam, your mission is to capture the ship.

Your skills at subterfuge and deception give you the following abilities:
  • Once during the game you may attempt to muddy the waters by concealing the body of any player killed during the previous day, or killed by you or your comrades during the night. PM the mod Conceal: <target> and no role flip will be provided for that player in the day-start post.
  • Once during the game you may frame another player, ensuring that they will appear to be a CoM operative to any investigative ability. PM the mod Frame: <target> to use this ability.
You may only use these abilities at night, and may use each once only during the game. You may use either ability the same night you carry out your factional kill.
You also have to ability to communicate with your comrades at night using an encrypted comms link. (You may use forum PMs if you prefer.)

You win when the Commonwealth of Man is the only faction remaining, or when this cannot be prevented.

Commonwealth of Man Sapper

Spoiler:
Welcome, freezeblade.

You are a combat engineer of the Commonwealth of Man Marines.
You have come aboard as the Chief Engineer of the UNS Ajax.
Along with your comrades bessie and wam, your mission is to capture the ship.

Your access to the Ajax's control systems and ability with explosives give you the following abilities:
  • Once during the game you may lock another player in their cabin, preventing them from taking any action and preventing any action from affecting them as well. PM the mod Block: <target> to use this ability.
  • Once during the game you may use a stunning explosive to prevent a player from taking any action. PM the mod Stun: <target> to use this ability.

Commonwealth of Man Marksman

Spoiler:
Welcome, wam.

You are a specialist marksman in the Commonwealth of Man Marines.
You have come aboard the UNS Ajax as a Leiutenant in the UNE Marine Corps.
Along with your comrades bessie and freezeblade, your mission is to capture the ship.

Your ability with all types of firearms gives you the following abilities:
  • Once during the game you may use a high-powered rifle to ensure that the factional kill succeeds. PM the mod Guaranteed kill: <target> to use this ability. Your target will be killed even if targeted by protective abilities. Note that any redirecting affects will still affect the kill.
  • Once during the game you may use a stealth pistol to make the factional kill undetectable. PM the mod Stealth kill: <target> to use this ability. You will be unable to be identified as the killer.
You may only use these abilities at night, and may use each once only during the game. You must carry out the factional kill in order to use either ability. These are not additional kills.
You also have to ability to communicate with your comrades at night using an encrypted comms link. (You may use forum PMs if you prefer.)

You win when the Commonwealth of Man is the only faction remaining, or when this cannot be prevented.

Contingency War Bot

Spoiler:
Welcome, Evil George Washington.

You are a war bot, a semi-autonomous robotic agent of the Contingency. The Contingecy exists to eliminate all sapient biological life in the galaxy to prevent the occurence of a Class-30 singularity.
You have come aboard the UNS Ajax as the Science Officer (a synthetic being).

You have the ability to kill one player each night. PM the mod Kill: <target> and your target will be killed.
In addition, being designed for battle means that you are not easily destroyed. You have the ability to resist one attack that would kill an ordinary being. Note that this ability does not protect you from being executed by vote.

You win when you are the only remaining player, or when this cannot be prevented.

UNS Ajax Security Officer

Spoiler:
Welcome, heuristically_alone.

You are the Security Officer of the UNS Ajax.

As Security Officer, you have the ability to investigate other players as follows:
  • Once during the game you may investigate another player to determine if they are aligned with the UNE. PM the mod Cop: <target> to use this ability. You will receive a result of 'UNE' or 'Not UNE'.
  • Once during the game you may investigate another player to determine that player's role. PM the mod Rolecop: <target> to use this ability. You will receive a result telling you the player's role. For example 'Security Officer'.
You may only use these abilities at night, and may use each once only during the game.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax CAG

Spoiler:
Welcome, LaserGuy.

You are the Commander, Air Group of the UNS Ajax.

You are also the lover of the Ajax's Navigator, Sabrar. If Sabrar is killed you will immediately kill youself in grief.

You do not know Sabrar's win condition.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax Navigator

Spoiler:
Welcome, Sabrar.

You are the Navigator of the UNS Ajax.

You are also the lover of the Ajax's CAG, LaserGuy. If LaserGuy is killed you will immediately kill youself in grief.
You may communicate with LaserGuy at night using an encrypted comms link. (You may use forum PMs if you prefer.)
You do not know LaserGuy's win condition.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax Medical Officer

Spoiler:
Welcome, Madge.

You are the Medical Officer of the UNS Ajax.

Your access to the ship's medical facilities allow you to protect, or to kill:
  • Once during the game you may protect another player from being killed at night. PM the mod Protect: <target> to use this ability. Your target will be protected from being killed.
  • Once during the game you may kill another player. PM the mod Kill: <target> to use this ability. Your target will be killed.
You may only use these abilities at night, and may use each once only during the game.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax Psi Ops Officer

Spoiler:
Welcome, Peaceful Whale.

You are the Psi Ops Officer of the UNS Ajax.

Your psionic abilities allow you to receive limited information from denizens of the Shroud, a higher dimension only accesible by psychics.
Once each day, after an execution, you may PM the mod Seek Guidance. You will receive a message from the Shroud informing you whether or not the execution was just.
Note that I will respond as soon as I see your PM, but this may not be immediate, depending on the time. Attempting this just before an execution may be a bad idea.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax Computer Systems Officer

Spoiler:
Welcome, plytho.

You are the Systems Officer of the UNS Ajax.

Your access to the ship's internal systems and facilities allows you to investigate other players as follows:
  • Once during the game you may use the ship's sytems to track another player at night. PM the mod Track: <target> to use this ability. You will be told all players that your target visits (if any, of course).
  • Once during the game you may use the ship's sytems to surveil another player at night. PM the mod Watch: <target> to use this ability. You will be told all players that visit your target (if any, of course).
You may only use these abilities at night, and may use each once only during the game.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax Ship Avatar

Spoiler:
Welcome, somitomi.

You are the AI Avatar of the UNS Ajax.

Because you are directly linked to all the ship's core systems, if you are executed then the day will immediately end and night will begin.
This will not come into effect if you are killed at night.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax Marine Sergeant

Spoiler:
Welcome, Vicarin.

You are a Sergeant in the UNE Marine Corps, assigned to the UNS Ajax.

As a trained combat soldier, you have the ability to sacrifice yourself to save another player from being killed.
Each night, you may PM the mod Guard: <target>. If your target is targeted by a kill, that kill will be redirected onto you. This means you will be killed, but your target will survive.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

UNS Ajax First Officer

Spoiler:
Welcome, Zenii.

You are the First Officer of the UNS Ajax.

As First Officer, you have the ability, once during the game, to unilaterally decide to call Lights Out.
To use this ability, you must publicly post in the thread Executive Order: Lights Out. I will call day end as soon as I see this.
Alternatively, you may submit a conditional use of this power to me by PM. I will then call day end when the condition occurs.
Note that day ends when I call it, not when you post the order, so trying it 5 minutes before a execution, or with an L-1 conditional, may be somewhat risky.

You win when all anti-UNE factions are eliminated and at least one member of the UNE is still alive.

Post game thoughts.

Setup was balanced in my opinion. I Did think the plan on D3 was high risk to town but I would have argued more as town. I also knew that you had lynched two scum straight up...

So huery was able to use 2 night actions at once? As heurys claim looking false due to plytho seeing him visit Zen. Which helped my false claim look real. I also made the false claim with the plan to ask bessie/maven to hide heurys reveal.

I think I said in spoilers but in the games I played recently scum seemed to sit back a bit and not go for false claims etc so I wanted to try something different.

If we did end up with a N3. I was seriously considering not killing and then claiming some form of doc or self doc power.

I don't really do shout outs but thanks to my buddies the fact we got to d3 with all of us alive was impressive!

Hmmm, so you had rolenames but didn't know what were believable powers to claim, I see.

Also oh my god EGW you bastard you DID have a falseclaim! Grrrrrrrr.

Well, can't be too angry, was the SK after all.

Those first 2 days were a goddamn disaster for town, I'm surprised it ended up being that close. Lynching lurkers still strong and all.

I had originally intended for only one of the one-shot actions to be used per night, but did not include that anywhere in the rules.
When huery sent in both, I thought it over and decided it wasn't game breaking, so I allowed it.
I must admit I had thought it would be moot, as Zenii was going to be killed by Madge. Until freezeblade blocked her, which ended up leading to a whole different form of shenanigans.

Shout outs:

bessie - Very sorry that real life got in the way for you. You played a strong game and I would have enjoyed seeing how you played out the endgame.

Maven - Sorry we lynched you before you really got to do much :)

Evil George Washington - Glad to have you back! You and Zen are great fun to play with :)

freezeblade - I'm quite impressed how you repeatedly just managed to avoid suspicion for most of game.

heuristically_alone - Sorry you got lynched. I had you as really solid Town D1 and I don't really know what happened in D2. You were such a mystery for so much of the game afterward (I find it weird you were able to target two different players on N1... I've never seen that before and even if we had seen your flip I still would have been very confused, I think, though we would have been in much better shape for sure).

Madge - Happy birthday!

Peaceful Whale - I was really hoping you'd get to go a bit farther into the game this time, but it wasn't meant to be I guess. As I noted in GoJoe, I thought your D1 was pretty good. Here's a bit of unsolicited advice that might help your Town game:
Spoiler:
-Don't be so hasty to claim as Town (or scum either, I guess). Even hinting at your role can be dangerous (unless you're like bulletproof or something, obviously)
-Try to ask more question of people. Especially, ask questions that get people talking, "why" questions. "Why are you doing this?" "Why did you vote for X?" If someone answers you and you aren't happy with the answer, follow up with another question. There's nothing wrong with doing analysis, but it's hard to do and a lot of work. Especially early in the game, it's probably more helpful to Town to try to make conversation than it is to do detailed analysis. There's a lot of places where this is easy to do in your content. Instead of musing "I wonder why LaserGuy said this", or "I would like to know what bessie thinks of that", you should ask directly. "@LaserGuy: Why did you say this?"; "@bessie: What do you think of this?" Ask questions, make sure you get an answer, and follow up.

plytho - You played a very solid game. As I noted, I did really appreciate that you were trying to work things out and continue to push people in the latter portion of the game, even if it was mostly me.

Sabrar - I think that went about as well as could be expected, honestly. I think I'm going to change our relationship status to "It's complicated".

somitomi - Would have liked to have seen a bit more of you this game, but I appreciate that the pace was quite furious at times. I think I'm going to give you a bit of similar advice that I gave to PW... don't be afraid to ask questions. If people are making a bunch of alignment calls at the start of the game that don't make sense to you, call them out! Ask where those reads are coming from. Analysis can be useful, but if you find that it isn't getting you anywhere, don't be afraid to try something different.

Vicarin - Don't rolefish, even for names :) It's rare that setups can be breakable by flavor. At best, flavor will give you a slight edge in complicated setups, but better to focus on reads and behavior.

wam - You played an excellent game. I love crafty scum players :)

Zenii - You weren't supposed to die N2 :( I loved all of your shenanigans this game, and it was actually really nice having a Town buddy to work with for once. I am a little disturbed at how much we think alike though.

Maven MVP

Spoiler:
My plan was to claim I could visit a dead person who wasn't flipped and gain a one shot of their role if possible, and I was going to claim I targeted H_A and got nothing, "proving" Wam. When I realized that the town had decided to mass execute everyone, I thought I had fucked up and my flip would reveal I was allied with Wam. But thankfully, town literally executed everyone, and I never had time to claim anyways.

Agreed! I loved being on the same wavelength. I was going to say this same thing d1. Maybe I did, I don't remember.

@vic: I have this special ability to see the core of another's soul, and man is yours strong. Your instincts are so good. Your voting accuracy was 10% above average and 16% above chance. I think maybe you should confront yourself more, i.e self reflect, to better isolate your accurate gut reads from the dreadful, superficial, inaccurate fraud we call logic.

@George: SK is the best role there is. You get the best of both worlds, scum hunt and kill ******.

@plytho: Seriously one of the most intelligent people I've interneted with. I hope you play the next one!

@Maven: Thanks for maintaining the continuity of the game dude! MVP Maven.

Edit: Also, so about to dive into Stellaris the actual game pretty soon. Can't believe I haven't played it before. Pretty much every aspect of it appeals to my tastes. Thanks for introducing Suzaku!

Thanks everyone, I had such fun playing this game and I'm beginning to feel like for the first time that I can make things work with my playstyle even in a busy game like we've been having lately (33 pages??? WHAT).

I don't think the lights out mechanic is for me as it gives us less days to work with: I'd love for N0 games to become a thing here as they'd suit me great (but in the meantime being a replacement does that, more or less)
I'm writing a supernatural romance novel, it updates the first weekend of every month. You can find it here.

Yeah, game was super fun overall, but lights out as a mechanic is going to be really hard to balance. Have to have so many forgers, redirectors and roleblockers to deal with cops just because of how incredibly strong a block of confirmed town is.

As I was mentioning in the spoilers after the last bit of action, if people were willing to be the game on somitomi's claim being accurate, then as long as Sabrar and LaserGuy were the other two in the final three and no-one thought that they were both scum, then town can win by lynching all but a single person, which is incredibly strong. Also, the only surviving person being the ship's computer is hilarious.

I was kinda hoping that when it got to somitomi wam and plytho that plytho would reevaluate why wam was so keen on speedlynching everyone and that somitomi's claim was really reasonable, but it was not to be.

@somitomi: I was really glad that you did claim that ability even if it was on D2, I just view it like being a Miller in that it'll be much easier for town if you're upfront immediately. Also if you claim it when you're close to being lynched everyone will go 'yeah right' and then kill you.

@Zenii: 2nd half of D2 was great but oh man please don't shenanigan so hard or I'll want to murder you every game. I can understand wanting to use your ability a lot but that was such a double edged sword. I know bessie ended up not using hers in Crossover because she thought it was more of a liability. Also if you taunt town about not being able to lynch you, by golly I'm going to try

@Vic of the players active after your lynch I was the one arguing against the speed lynching!

Congratulations wam, bessie, maven and freezeblade. And sorry everyone, I really haven't put enough effort into this game. Partly because of IRL time constraints and partly because I realised I was getting nowhere with my current approach. I'll try to take LaserGuy's advice and experiment a little later on.

Well, thanks for making me realise I should've claimed this immediately. Strangely it didn't occur to me to claim even though I realised it was negative utility.
