The only thing worse than light pollution is heavy pollution.

Such insect/fungi would themselves be highly invasive if they ever reached the plant's native range, so then you need another insect/fungus specifically for curtailing the spread of the first one. Not sure if it'd actually go any layers deeper than that, though.
