gonna Get In Shape!

So I recently went through a period in my life where I was very unhealthy in the worst ways. I drank a lot and did some pretty bad drugs, and so obviously I was not too concerned with my own well-being. I got out of that situation, but when I did I put on weight. Apparently, I look a lot healthier now, even though I don't feel like I am. Rather than eating right and taking care of myself, I've just been eating whatever and ... well, not taking care of myself. I'd like to change that.

Age: 19
Weight: 170
Height: 5'7"
Objective: To become a healthier and more active person.

Right now I walk about twenty minutes a day, lift weights and do ablounge (which is pretty neat). I've also started eating better and drinking only water. I haven't noticed a difference yet, but it's only been about a week.

Woo! Drinking only water is one change that helped me a LOT. I cut out caffeine first, then all soda, then the rest except maybe some orange juice with breakfast (and some alcohol, but rarely). Do you drink soda? If you do, I recommend switching to caffeine free first, then once you've broken the caffeine dependency it's much easier to just stop drinking it altogether. I've lost the taste for it really, except the occasional Sprite or Fanta. But getting rid of the extra calories from milk and juice, as well as the carbonation from soda that expands the stomach and makes you feel less full, is a great step.

The other great thing about drinking only water is that it's free in restaurants :)

Cutting out pop was one of the best things I did. Like you said, started with cola, then I realizedthat I realyl didn't like non-cola, and cut that out.

I went back to drinking the irregular pop (actually, I'm drinking it more now, and should cut back down), but it's excellent.

Tip: if you're like me, and need something to flavour the water so you'll drink it more, put lemon in your water (or lime). Over the summer, I'd put a 2L bottle of water with lemon in the freezer and drink it over the day. I'd keep one in the fridge for when I was at home.

How is this working out for ye? 'S Been >5 months.

I hope the only thing to go up on that table there would be age. (Would be somewhat bizarre if the height column increased.)
