XKCD @ MIT photos

The lecture was awesome! The minute Randall started talking about MIT's hacking community, a few hundred plastic playpen balls dropped from hatches in the lecture hall ceiling...

Thanks Randall for coming to MIT!

The lighting in that room sucks. The color of the light varies from seriously yellow to seriously magenta depending on where you are, and I had to find some sort of middle ground -- as much as making everyone look like Bart and Lisa can be considered a middle ground!

If you click through the first few pictures of playpen balls falling, you can not only see them move, you can see everyone turn to watch.

Great pictures, it looks like they used every possible gag. Well, almost.

oh dear! Looks like there were made quite a few jokes any xkcd-outsider would just not get (love the cake!!!)

Well, wish I could have been there...how was it, like what he talked about?

oh, and it seems randall is able to sort-of cope with raptors (as long as it is just them robo-raptors, with theirs laser-eyes and gatling guns, he doesn't mind). Fun notice with the grape-juice, too.

I love those playpen balls. I never see enough of them around.

OTOH, OT. BTW, third-to-last picture at second page. I can't but point to that girl in the dark blue t-shirt. Very beautiful. SCNR. :)

Foolish raptors! Mere scale models are playthings to Lord Munroe!

Looks fun.

Linked to the vid that was posted above is a 3D rendering of xkcd's "Map of the Internet". The punchline is hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGfNSA3QmWg&NR=1

If there was a video of Randall running up and kicking each Raptor as hard as he could, Shaun of the Dead zombie-crushing style.

I saw it in Slashdot, and came here for confirmation.

I read this as plastic ballpens and didn't notice my mistake till I saw the picture. :P

(But at least I didn't read "playball pen").

Edit: But from what I see on Slashdot, I'm not the only one.

I did the same thing and all I kept thinking, wouldn't that hurt a lot?

I actually did a test experiment on myself and stabbed myself in the scalp.

DAMN YOU BRAIN!
