I never did this....so yea.

Hello world.

I'm PhantomReality, or Chris if you prefer.

I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina (soon to be going to Elon University and living there) and love my town more than anything in the world. I'm very liberal about almost everything and radical in my views, and usually educated. As long as we aren't talking to seriously about substance control laws I'll let you have your say, and be fair.

I love this comic because it never ceases to amaze me that it finds bits and pieces of my mine that I've never voiced, and has stick figures voice them for me. :D

I love these forums too, just a great place all around.

Well, Hello to all the other new new people and hello to all the old new people who said hello to me..... I guess.

I'm also from the UK (North of England to be exact). I work for a university, I'm a geek plain and simple, etc, etc.

Hello and whatnot.

I'm HSG(obviously). I'm a 15 year old who goes to a boarding school off in Massachusetts, and spends his summers in a small town in Indiana whining about the conservative atmosphere and being pretentious.

I spend most of my time solving Rubik's Cubes(both 3D and 4D), Juggling(not in 4D, yet), and gaming. I'm currently playing unhealthy amounts of DotA(a custom map for Warcraft III) every day, as well as putting too much thought into SSBM. I used to play Kingdom of Loathing for pathetically large amounts of time each day, but that stopped earlier this summer. Basically, I'm a huge geek. I'm assuming that this means I'll fit in pretty well with everyone else here :D

Oh, and I also read Questionable Content and Ctrl-Alt-Del on a regular basis.

You mean there's other subforums in this place than the comic one? I for one am flabbergasted!

The quick and dirty: Norwegian, 27 years old, but curently working in Dublin, Ireland for a big and blue megacorporation. Nothing exciting though, I only do tech support... But it's ONSITE tech support! I spent a year of my life doing the whole helpdesk thing, and I still have a few lingering mental issues thanks to it.

I'm also certifiably insane, so i'm sure I'll fit right in.

Hey,

I am 18 and am about to start university to do engineering. I have been looking at the comic for a while now and recently found the forum.

Interested in dangerous sports (power kiting, bocking) and the the rest is mostly computer related. Oh yes I am also interested in not sleeping and lucid dreaming. The work well together ;)

I solemnly swear I am not a bot.

Hi everyone.
I'm from Cambridge, in England, and I'm 14 years of age etc.

I like Classical music, especially Bach, have an unhealthy obsession with GNU/Linux, like physics and programming. (Oh yeah and I like xkcd, obviously)

Also, I'm not a bot (how many bots like classical music?)

(pff, t'pah, t'pff t'pff, pah!)
My name's dschneider and I'm here to say
I read xkcd every day
Of the five webcomics I read the most
It's the only one warranting a forum post
So allow me to introduce myself
I got a copy of SQL For Dummies on my shelf
I do software support fo' a retail chain
And in the shower, I sing "I'm Only Happy When It Rains"
I'm mediocre at math; I can barely do my times
And I can't speak Lisp, but I'm fluent in rhymes
I don't play World of Warcraft but I had the intention
And reading comic books is my current obsession
I've got no tattoos, and I've got nothing pierced
But they call me Hadoken, 'cause I'm down-right fierce

now break it down
Could somebody please remove these cutleries from my knees?

Token 'Hi' Post.

I've read xkcd for a while but never got round to looking at the forum. I was then reminded of it from a google search for... Well, just a google search.

Also, not a raptor sympathiser. Really. Raptors weren't even really lizards were they? Right? Yeah, that's the ticket. Honest.

This is my first post.

I'm from New York and I go to school in St. Louis. I am both a Computer Science and Music student. I like Haskell. I play guitar (classical, jazz, you name it), saxophone, and hand percussion. I'm beginning with the violin and the piano. I like to write. I'm half Puerto Rican and I speak Spanish. I want to learn German.

I had a personal crisis recently wherein I began to doubt that I was a man of science. Two things helped me resolve it: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and xkcd. The former, though concerning itself with questionable metaphysics, offered an intellectual perspective on science that I had never encountered before. The latter offered an emotional perspective on science that I had never encountered before. I credit them both with revitalizing my interest in science, and with sparking an interest in philosophy.

I have no doubt that I am above all a creative person, but I've come to understand science as another thing that can be played with. It's been a great insight for me, and I hope I'll get to do a lot of that playing here.

Hi, I'm Mark.
I'm sixteen and I live in London and I'm your (a)typical eccentric type. I'm in school, studying Latin, Physics, Mathematics and Classical Civilisations for A level. I have a minor obsession with prime numbers... but, y'know, they're fun! I also spend WAY too much time working out the mathematics and the science of every-day activities, particularly during the holidays when I've got nothing better to do.
I'm also very much into music. I'm a singer (both classical and contemporary music), a guitarist and an occasional dabbler in playing the piano. Badly. :P

Maynard is awesome. I mean... Lateralus... its FIBONACCI MUSIC!

And then there was the time he quit the band because he found Jesus...

A month later he rejoins the band, saying Jesus turned out to just be an immigrant outside the LA recording studio.

Love the comic, but the fora are amazing too! Haven't seen such a great community in quite a while.

My name's Ryan, and I'm 21. I'm currently studying Electrical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, TX. I wish I could come up for the September meetup, but unfortunately it's a bit far from Texas... However, I'm originally from Cincinnati, OH, and it's too bad I won't be there in September. See you around!

(Tried to keep that relatively bot-free, how'd I do?)

hoohoo!

I'm in my last year of school (hence my registering here, or something), and I live in the bit of Australia where no-one else does (the centre).

I like bikes and physics, and consider myself fairly good at them (yes, I'm pretty good at bikes). I've also started drawing a bit more of late, and I'm getting better at it, and I love the poetry of TS Eliot.

My name was what I thought was a character from hitchhikers (Douglas Adams radio series/book/TV series for any pagans around here), but upon reading the book again I discovered that I got it slightly wrong, but I'd already registered it in a number of places, so I kept it.

Favourite bands at the moment are Powderfinger and The Good the Bad and the Queen.

and one day, I'm going to be a legend.

okay, here's my introduction: i spent all of five minutes trying to think of a clever introduction so that i could then post this link to the derivative song in the math section, but i finally decided, screw it, i'm gonna play video games and watch buffy the vampire slayer (at the same time - two computers and dvds!). yay my pointless. and finally i thought of an introduction!
POSTEDIT: also i'm a huge NIN fan.

Hi all,
This is my first post.
I live near San Francisco, California.

I've already spent a very long time on this post, because I wanted it to reflect ME, but it kept ending up sounding sexist, racist, or pedophilic. So I'll just make do with this.

Hmm.

Anyway, glad you've all met me now 8)

Contrary to the URL's implications, the person on the photo is not me; furthermore, I look nothing like her.

Hello.

My name's Bryan, but I go by ACEfanatic02 online. It's usually simpler to just call me ACE.

I'm 17, and a rising senior in high school. I am a geek, which is why xkcd attracts me, but not really a math geek. I'd take philosophy over math any day. Some day I hope to write science fiction for a living.

So, yeah...

Not a bot.

Clearly.
